Clean Networks

Clean Networks is an initiative by NBIP that focuses on strengthening abuse mitigation and compliance within the digital infrastructure sector. The program supports providers of hosting, network services and internet access in structurally and demonstrably addressing abuse, such as malware, phishing and other forms of cybercrime.

Within Clean Networks, collaboration, self-regulation and practical support are central. Participants work based on a shared code of conduct and gain access to tools, knowledge and reporting structures that contribute to a more resilient digital ecosystem.

European funding

Clean Networks is co-funded by the European Union. This funding makes it possible to:

  • develop and maintain a sector-wide code of conduct for abuse mitigation
  • provide practical support to participants in compliance and implementation
  • systematically process and share notifications and signals about abuse
  • strengthen knowledge sharing and collaboration within the sector

Thanks to this European support, Clean Networks can contribute to a safer and more reliable internet, in line with European policy objectives in the field of digital resilience and cybersecurity.

Objective and results

The objective of Clean Networks is to raise the level of abuse mitigation within the digital infrastructure sector and to demonstrate responsible actions by providers. This is achieved through:

  • adopting and signing a shared code of conduct
  • improving processes around abuse notifications and follow-up
  • increasing transparency towards government, partners and society

The European funding supports these activities and contributes to structural improvement of the approach to abuse within networks and hosting environments.
